CONVERSATIONS WITH JOHN FITCH

DREAMS, LIFE, AND RACING.

The goal of this site is to make available indefinitely to racing authors and scholars the recollections of John Fitch from the Gentleman Era of post-war racing  for use in their own work.

Interview sessions of the late racer and inventor, John Fitch (1917-2012) from the archives of documentary filmmaker Chris Szwedo. Interviews were taped in August and November of 2001 at the Fitch residence in Lakeville, Connecticut and cover Fitch’s experiences and aspirations in an open discussion.  Observe Fitch describing his life from childhood, to war, to marriage, to racing, and personal inventions involving highway transportation and racing safety.  These recordings in standard definition took place between Szwedo’s productions of Lime Rock Park: The Secret Valley of Racing, and a Gullwing at Twilight: The Bonneville Ride of John Fitch.
